Jesus was brought into this world in a barn, made of wood that comes from a tree.
He was laid in a food trough, made of wood that comes from a tree.
He taught of seeds and sowing and reaping.
He taught of rooting in love, growing in Him, and producing kingdom fruit.
He prayed in a garden the night before his death, surrounded by trees and God’s creation.
He carried a cross and died on that cross –a cross that was made of wood, that comes from a tree.
This holiday season, allow Jesus to live in you like he did that barn. Let him rest in you like a manger. Allow him to root in you, grow in you and produce in you. Surround yourself with Him. Bear the cross you need to bear with courage and dependence on the Father…and let your old self die on the cross so that you may truly be risen in Him and only Him.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, from me and mine!
A voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.
Every valley shall be filled in,
every mountain and hill made low.
The crooked roads shall become straight,
the rough ways smooth.
And all people will see God’s salvation.’
