Karey, thanks so much for coming by and thanks for your thoughts. You are right that the President was congratulating him for his courage but my point is that there are so many more courageous acts in this country right now that deserve personal Presidential recognition rather than someone speaking out about sexuality. I personally feel it was a publicity thing on the Presidents part, because the coming out involved a celebrity.

I don’t think President Obama was congratulating him on being gay, but for having the courage to come out in the open and be truthful to everyone around him, including the public. A man, who is constantly in the spotlight and whose career surrounds him with men whom in the past would have shunned another man for admitting that he was gay, should be congratulated on the immense amount of courage it must have taken to come forth and risk everything to be truthful.
